Russia has asked a consortium of Japanese companies to help with the building of the massive project.
The property prices since the announcement of Sochi as the site of the games have risen 40 percent. That increase makes the $6.2 billion cost of “Federation Island” a pretty decent investment. After the games there are already plans to turn the dorms into apartments and villas able to house up to 25,000 residents.
Using the Japanese companies is also a wise move on the part of the Russians. They are building a bridge between the two countries business wise. It comes at a time Japan needs to have more work for the builders that have faced less employment in their native land. The Japanese government has cut back on government spending on public works projects.
Hosting the games may prove to be a huge benefit to all involved in Sochi in the end.
