Levi Johnston is going to be a teenage father in the coming months. The young man from Alaska isn’t worrying about providing for his new family though, he’s enjoying the campaign trail with soon to be mother-in-law Sarah Palin when he’s not working.
Johnston has been told to hush up by the McCain-Palin campaign advisers. He may have a mind of his own seeing how he agreed to talk to MSNBC.
Since learning that his girlfriend Bristol Palin was pregnant young Levi has dropped out of high school to take a job. He is an apprentice electrician in the North Slope oil fields.
Johnston wanted to set some records straight. First off the MySpace page that states: “I’m a … redneck.” and “I don’t want kids.” According to the young man his friends are the ones that created the page a few years ago.
Bristol has been his girlfriend since grade nine. They had always planned to get married.
MSNBC quotes Johnston:
“We were planning on getting married a long time ago with or without the kid,” he said. “That was the plan from the start.”
The marriage will take place next summer.
Bristol is the one who asked young Levi to go to the Republican National Convention according to Levi.
“At first, I was nervous,” he said. “Then I was like, ‘Whatever.'”
Johnston isn’t an expert on politics. He says he’s rooting for John McCain and future mother-in-law Sarah Palin though.
“I just hope she wins,” he said. “She’s my future mother-in-law. She better win.”
