Gaza School Children Victim of Food Poisoning

Seven children are in critical condition as a result of food poisoning in Gaza. The police say that about 80 school girls have been sickened at a United Nations school.
Islam Shahwan, police spokesman, said that the children ate food that had passed its expiry date.

The school in Khan Younis is run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. There was no immediate comment by the agency that is in charge of Palestinian refugees.

The children are being treated at Nasser Hospital in the city of Khan Younis. Twenty of those ill have been admitted to the hospital.

It has not been determined if the food was provided by a local shop or by the UN itself.
